ADHD-focused care platform
Kantoko telehealth care
Adult ADHD assessment and ongoing care from an ADHD-focused team, in one platform with a health dashboard, records, requests, care-team communication and practical educational content.
Your ADHD Doctor can discuss medication and handle Queensland prescribing requirements when clinically appropriate.
$200 for the first month, then $100 per month. Appointments are currently estimated in 1–2 weeks. Your GP referral and routine checks stay local. [1]
Private psychiatrist
Medical specialist assessment. Adult ADHD experience and follow-up arrangements vary by psychiatrist and clinic, so ask before booking.
Psychiatrists can prescribe psychostimulants for adults with ADHD within Queensland's maximum daily dose limits.
Initial assessment pathways commonly cost $1,000 or more, with waits of six months or longer. Ask what the fee includes and whether ongoing appointments are available. [8] [2]
Psychologist assessment
Psychological assessment, with therapy or practical strategies where offered.
Psychologists cannot prescribe medication. Medication assessment and prescribing require a separate medical practitioner.
A full assessment often runs across four to six sessions and can cost thousands of dollars. Ask whether the report will meet the needs of any doctor involved in later medical care. [8] [3]
Specialist GP ADHD care
Some GPs with specialist registration in general practice offer adult ADHD assessment and treatment. Relevant training, availability and follow-up arrangements vary by practice.
Since 1 December 2025, specialist GPs can initiate, modify and continue psychostimulants for adults with ADHD within Queensland's maximum daily dose limits.
This authority does not mean every local GP or practice offers ADHD assessment. Ask whether the GP is accepting patients, what assessment includes and who provides follow-up. [1] [2]
Public mental health service
Queensland's 1300 MH CALL is a 24-hour entry point to public mental health services. It provides support, information and referral to a nearby service where appropriate.
Triage can recommend relevant care, but it does not promise an ADHD assessment, medication decision or ongoing ADHD care.
This can help if you have a broader or urgent mental health concern. It is not a direct booking route for a standalone adult ADHD assessment. [7]
ADHD coaches
Practical support with routines, planning, follow-through and environmental or behavioural strategies.
Coaching does not include medical assessment or prescribing. It can sit alongside clinical care.
Fees, session length and packages vary. Check credentials, privacy, scope and how coaching will fit with your clinical care. [9]
