Kantoko telehealth care
Adult ADHD assessment and ongoing care from an ADHD-focused team, in one platform with a health dashboard, records, requests, care-team communication and practical educational content.
When intake is open, your ADHD Doctor can discuss medication and handle WA prescribing requirements when clinically appropriate.
New patient intake is currently paused in WA. We will update this page when WA assessment sign-up resumes. [1]
Private psychiatrist
Medical specialist assessment. Adult ADHD experience and follow-up arrangements vary by psychiatrist and clinic, so ask before booking.
Psychiatry is an approved specialty for initiating S8 stimulant treatment for ADHD within the WA prescribing code conditions.
Initial assessment pathways commonly cost $1,000 or more, with waits of six months or longer. Ask what the fee includes and whether ongoing appointments are available. [6] [1]
Psychologist assessment
Psychological assessment, with therapy or practical strategies where offered.
Psychologists cannot prescribe medication. Medication assessment and prescribing require a separate medical practitioner.
A full assessment often runs across four to six sessions and can cost thousands of dollars. Ask whether the report will meet the needs of an approved specialist involved in later medical care. [6] [1]
GP shared care
A GP or nurse practitioner may provide continuing stimulant prescriptions in an eligible shared-care arrangement with an approved specialist.
Shared-care prescribers can continue treatment within the specialist's written directions, but they cannot initiate stimulant treatment.
Ask the specialist and your GP whether shared care is suitable, who remains responsible for review and how prescriptions will be managed. [3] [1]
Public mental health service
Public adult community mental health services focus on severe and enduring mental illness. A North Metropolitan Perth referral guide says it does not facilitate ADD or ADHD assessments.
Public treatment is decided by the accepting service. It is not a general alternative to a bookable adult ADHD assessment.
Eligibility and services differ by catchment. The ADD and ADHD exclusion is specific to the North Metropolitan Perth service, not a claim about every WA provider. [5]
ADHD coaches
Practical support with routines, planning, follow-through and environmental or behavioural strategies.
Coaching does not include medical assessment or prescribing. It can sit alongside clinical care.
Fees, session length and packages vary. Check credentials, privacy, scope and how coaching will fit with your clinical care. [7]
